about aisling

Hi I am Aisling Fox. I'm a Nutritional Therapist, Herbalist and the owner of AOK Nutrition. I also host ‘Spilling The Tea with Aok Nutrition’, a female health focused podcast, where we chat about all things hormones, vaginas, periods, sex, fertility and so much more - essentially, spilling the tea on all of the things that we should have been taught in school!. My goal is to educate and empower women on their health + hormones!

I am a self confessed science nerd; I adore modern medicine and love biology, physiology and keeping up with the latest research, while also being a big believer in Complementary medicine, mainly Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda medicine, which I have studied during my academic training.

In my clinic, my goal is to get to the root of the issue and I combine both types of medicine to do this. A consultation may consist of a blood test analysis and also a personalised herbal tonic prescription! We are all so different, so there is never a one size fits all approach to healing.

I grew up surrounded by herbal medicine and naturopathy. This meant that nutrition wasn't something I learned about when I began my studies- it's something that I have been taught right from the very beginning. I also had the opportunity to work in our family naturopathic clinic, Breath of Life. So I've seen first-hand how much of an impact nutrition and simple lifestyle changes can have on health, as well as years of experience.  In 2012 I began my own studies and in 2016 I set up my own clinic - AOK Nutrition.

QUALIFICATIONS

In 2014, I qualified as a Nutritional Therapist, after completing a 3 year diploma in Nutritional Therapy from The College of Naturopathic Medicine. This included 1 year of Biomedicine studies, 2 years of Nutrition studies and also 200 hours of clinical practice.

In 2016, I returned to CNM and completed my diploma in Naturopathy, which allowed me to widen my knowledge of Chinese and Ayurveda medicine, Iridology, Bach Flower Therapies, Tissue Salts, Herbal Formulas and Chinese Diagnostics (nail, pulse, face, tongue).

In 2022, I qualified with distinction in Herbal Medicine, after completing my post grad diploma in CNM. This included 300 hours of clinical practice, training in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda and extensive study of phytochemistry and pharmacology.

I am a member of NTOI (Nutritional Therapists of Ireland), the professional association supporting qualified Nutritional Therapists in Ireland.  A qualified registered Nutritional Therapist is someone who holds a minimum 3 year diploma in Nutritional Therapy and is trained in basic biochemistry, physiology and pathology as well as 200 hours supervised clinical practice. I am fully insured and must comply with the NTOI requirements for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Code of Professional Ethics & Practice.

AISLING'S BACKGROUND

When we were young, my mum who was working as a general + children’s nurse at the time, trained as a Herbalist + reflexologist and then took a leap of faith and left her job and opened her Naturopathic clinic Breath of life. So I was brought up surrounded by natural medicine. Having herbs, supplements and natural remedies in the house were the norm.

Now, don’t get me wrong, having pizza and chips with a compulsory side of broccoli used to drive me MAD - but now I get it and I understand the importance of balance.

I try to pass this knowledge on to all of my clients. You will never find me promoting quick fixes or 12 week programmes as my main goal is always to educate people so that they can keep it up long after they have had a consultation with me.

ROISIN O'KELLY

Aisling’s mum, Roisin, is the owner of Breath of Life clinic, set up in 1994 with the aim of alleviating suffering/illness and improving the patient’s quality of life. Aisling worked in Breath of Life for many years, where she got invaluable experience, before setting up Aok Nutrition.

Roisin’s clinic Breath of Life and Aisling’s clinic AOK Nutrition merged as a partnership in 2019 and over the years, they have helped many people to a better quality of life.
